James Palik is an international travel, event, and architectural photographer with experience in a broad range subjects. His passion is photographicART.
As a teenager in Santa Rosa, California, Jim was mentored by William Quandt, Ansel Adams' former assistant at the California School of Fine Arts. During this time, he was given the opportunity to attend classes given by Ansel Adams, driving to San Francisco once a week using his sister's car (the price of gasoline was $0.18 per gallon).
In 1960, Jim placed 5th out of 35,000 entries in the National Scholastic Photography Competition. Since then Jim has won numerous awards and recognition.
After working for a succession of photography studios in San Francisco, Jim opened his own studio in Los Gatos, California. In 1999, Hewlett Packard offered Jim the opportunity to move to Germany. Jim retired from Hewlett Packard in 2005.
Jim now teaches digital photography at the Hochschule der Medien (Stuttgart Media University) in Stuttgart, Germany. He also works contractually doing travel photography, event photography and architectural photography, in addition to a wide variety of client requests.
In his leisure time, Jim can be found at his computer editing digital images from his extensive collection.
